I've been wondering this question for awhile now. I was told that you can do this with hot water running at the same time, but doesn't this mess up your drain? Where would you dispose of your old cooking oil/frying grease?Should you dispose of old cooking oil/frying grease in the sink?
No, you shouldnt put grease or oil of any kind down the kitchen sink. This will cause build up in your pipes and regardless of how hot of water you run down the drain it will not melt it. Oil and water seperate. I drain mine into a normal bowl and after it has cooled I put it in the trashcan, in either an empty can or empty box. Some people use empty coffee cans to put grease in and I tried this (my mom has ALWAYS did that) but with in a few days the grease smells so nasty that when you open the can to put more in it, it almost gags you.Should you dispose of old cooking oil/frying grease in the sink?
I think it would be okay if you have a garbage disposal and run the hot water for a few minutes. But with an ordinary sink, I wouldn't try it. I usually save the bottles and cans that the oil and other items come in to use for disposal because they have a screw on top that will keep the trash bag from getting extremely messy. My grandson uses powdered formula. We buy the large cans and they have a plastic top on them. When they are empty, I use them to throw away old grease and scraps that are not fit for consumption by our cat.
no the oil will clog up in your sink and then you will need drain declogger so pour it outside but if you have a dog somewhere it will not lick
No don't pour it down the drain. I put mine in an old coffee can or milk jug and throw in the trash.:)
Def. do not put it down your drain. It WILL build up. I would do as the first person answered and try a coffee can to dispose it.
