Is corn oil the same as cooking oil?

I'm baking brownies and it says ';oil'; is corn oil okay? It's probably a really stupid question, but I'm a kid.Is corn oil the same as cooking oil?
Corn oil is just fine for brownies. It's one of the general oils that can be used unless a different one is specified. Canola oil would also be fine for brownies, but olive oil would impart a different taste.
