What makes animal fat, engine grease and margarine thick and cooking oil thin?

Does a high amount of FFA make an oil thicker or is it something else? What makes animal fat, engine grease and margarine thick and cooking oil thin?
Fully saturated fats, like those found in animal fat (butter, for example) generally have a lower melting points that those of unsaturated fats. A lower melting point means that many of these fats are solid at room temperature. Margarine is less thick than butter because it is made from the liquid portion of clearified vegetable fat that is solidified under pressure. It, therefore, contains more unsaturated fat than butter. Not sure about engine grease...

also, ffa? not sure about that either...;-)What makes animal fat, engine grease and margarine thick and cooking oil thin?
It has mostly to do with the length of the carbon chain....

Can I tan outside with any cooking oil? Or is olive oil better than vegitable oil?

Which one? Or will either clog my pores? I have 0 dollars lying around the house so I cant by tanning oil! Thanks! Can I tan outside with any cooking oil? Or is olive oil better than vegitable oil?
I am not so sure about the oil but I know the situation you are in. I have used butter, yes butter, and it works.( I used the kind in the spray bottle) You will smell funny but it did not clog my pores.

Also, Afro-sheen, the hair gel that some people use, will work and make you dark. You can purchase this at your local dollar store for about $2.

You might also be able to find suntan lotion's on sale at the dollar store.

Good Luck~Can I tan outside with any cooking oil? Or is olive oil better than vegitable oil?
Ummm...you definitely don't want to use cooking oil on your skin. If you can't afford tanning oil, the best alternative to use is baby oil. It's like a $1.25 for a big bottle at most Walmart's. It doesn't have any sunscreen but if you just want to glisten in the sun, then you should use baby oil, not cooking oil. It will also make your skin super soft because being in the sun can dry out your skin and cause wrinkling. It's also good if you have been sunburned. Keeping baby oil on your skin will keep you from peeling. If you can't afford it, then don't use anything at all. You don't have to have anything on your skin to get burned. It's a matter of whether you want to smell like fried grease or just like burnt skin. Personally,I would rather smell like a baby's butt. Wishing you good tanning!

you cant use any of them! it doesn't have the sun protection in them that tanning lotion has. sorry. but you can always use sunscreen..
you are going to burn the piss out of yourself if you rub oil all over yourself and lay in the sun?
Baby Oil, possibly with a few drops of iodine (if you have it), is the original quick tanning oil.
When I was in the gulf shores in june, I saw people using african american hairspray to tan with. They looked really dark from it, it may because of the oils in it. That's whay I would use for a good dark tan.
no
well when you use cooking oil and olive oil its kinda like puttin yourself in the oven.

if you put that on your body and go tanning your cooking it.

and if you use it to much than when your older your going to have splotchy skin and even worse skin cancer.

i would just use sunscreen and tan. it works for me.
unless you wanna be greasy, burnt, and smell like dinner cooking, i'd use a tanning lotion (even something with an spf of 5 will get you tan and help with the harmful rays, trust me, i know, i LOVE tanning in the sun)

Where can I find a container that drains cooking oil?

I want to purchase a reasonable draining utensil? What stores carry this item.Where can I find a container that drains cooking oil?
Not sure I understand your question: are you looking for a container (by definition would store the cooking oil as well as ';drain'; or, rather, ';strain'; it) or just a strainer. If you're just looking for something to strain off crumbs, any grocery, big box (Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc.), or kitchen supply store will sell one - it's called a ';sieve'; (pronounced SEEV). Look for fully stainless steel, as it will not rust (or at least be less likely to rust, as the grade of stainless they usually use is pretty poor) and will last much longer. They sell all different sizes and make them with or without handles (unless it fits perfectly over your storage container, go with a hand-held one, as it's less messy to deal with).

If you want something that will strain out sediment as well, your best best is a restaurant supply store - your local one can be found in your yellow pages. (In this case, you would be looking for what's called a ';fine mesh sieve';.)Where can I find a container that drains cooking oil?
Do you mean...to re-use it?

I just put it back in the original bottle, once it's cold, of course, using a funnel with some cheesecloth.

Follow the guidelines on the links below for safety.

Don't try to get a fancy container. Get a moderately priced colander (strainer) from your near by Target. It's cheap and reliable.
Good old Walmart has a number of choices , cheap too .
My mom has one. I think it's called a collander. :-|

How do I dispose of used cooking oil?

It is rancid, used oil from my deep fryer, I am in a small town, so no recyclers nearby, IF they take that stuff. Any ideas? How do I dispose of used cooking oil?
NEVER dump your used oil down the drain. It can damage plumbing and cause environmental problems.

First, cool the used oil. Then decide if you need to throw it away or not. Oil used in deep fryers can generally be strained and stored in a clean container for reuse (reuse a few times before it gets rancid).

Next, pour the used oil into a sealable container such as a old jar (think of a mayo or pickle jar with a large body and decent sized mouth).

When the jar is full it can be thrown away in your trash or taken to your local landfill. You can also call your municple government to find out about trash pick up for these kinds of items -- some areas will accept used cooking grease along with motor oil (from changing the oil in your car), etc, on a special pick up day a few times a year.

Since you are in a rural area you might want to ask around to see if any local business produce animal feed - they can sometimes use recycled cooking oil in the process of producing the feed.

You also might want to contact a local fast food restuarant to find out who picks up their used oil; they often contract with trash pick up companies that will recycle or dispose of the oil in an environmentally friendly way. Or they may just allow you to add your used oil to their old oil bin. How do I dispose of used cooking oil?
Uhh no one recylces cooking oil to re-use it for cooking. See if there is someone you sharpens knives and stuff see if they will take it. It works on their stones.

Or just cool and put it back in the original conatiner if you have it, or something with a lid if you don't and toss it. You may not have a lot of options.

You could always make bio-diesel ;)

You could also make soap, but I dunno if anyone would want deep-fryer scented soap.

I usually just throw oil down the sink with some warm soapy water to keep it liquid, but now that I think of it that might not be the best idea...
Put it in a container like an old coffee can or a jar and let it solidify, then you can throw it away.
I keep an old pickle jar in my pantry that I put used oil in. Once it gets full I'll throw it away and start a new jar.
I would just put it in a can and then in the trash.
Can't this be mixed with waste cellulose and fed to chickens and pigs?
i dump my use oil on flower out side i don't know if it is a good ida

Does all food need to have cooking oil used in the bottam of the food or just some?

Just some. You can use baking paper in the oven instead, or I recommend getting a really good quality non stick fry pan, that way you shouldn't need any at all.

What's the best and most environmentally friendly way to dispose of used cooking oil?

Make a bird feeder - mix with stale cereal, oats, muslie etc

maybe even flour in winter (a little), mix with dried fruit, nuts and seeds - push in to a container and string up for the birds to enjoy.

or

flush it away with a good washing up liquid this will break up the fats so they don't become clogged in the cystem. What's the best and most environmentally friendly way to dispose of used cooking oil?
Find someone who uses it in their car and give it to them.

  • What's the proper way of getting rid of cooking oil once it's been used?

the proper way is to put it in bottles.

and trow them in the garbage.

never in the sink because this will pollute the oceans etc,What's the proper way of getting rid of cooking oil once it's been used?
I throw it away when it cools, too. It's especially bad for the plumbing if you have a septic system. What's the proper way of getting rid of cooking oil once it's been used?
Pour the used oil along a fence line to keep the grass or weeds from growing up along the fence. Or you can take it to wal mart and they will dispose of it along with motor oil.
Take it somewhere that they can convert it into bio-diesel. In the city i live in there is a company that goes to fast food places and gets their used oil and converts it for diesel vehicles to help not use fossil fuels.
You don't want to clog your drains with that nor outside over the fence; nasty critters will expect dinner all the time. (Stock pile the grease in a coffee can. When full toss into trash.)

Recycling of used cooking oil is ENCOURAGED---- where the opportunity is available. Possibilities for recycling include:

鈥et Foods %26amp; Animal Feed 鈥?Pet food manufacturers, farmers, and dog mushers add oil to foods.

鈥nergy Source 鈥?Used cooking oils can be burned in some incinerators, generators, or diesel engines (as biodiesel fuel).

鈥onsumer products 鈥?Some companies are using recycled cooking oil to produce soap, cosmetics, glues and other products. Where these options are not available in the state, used cooking oil may be collected and shipped out for proper disposal or recycling.
i save in disposable container, then take it on camping trips and add to the fire. just pour on wood. it burns slower and your fire lasts longer and hotter
Never, ever, pour it down the drain. I put mine in an old can then pitch it. Cooking oil can be used as diesel fuel, so maybe you could find someone to recycle it.
I would fpold up some newspapers into a cone, put that in a sturdy plastic bag, pour the used oil in, tie it up and throw it in the bin.
Poor about a tablespoon and a half full of dish washing detergeant into it and poor it down the sink with running HOT water. Let the hot water run for about 30 seconds after oil is finished pooring.
don't put it down the drain. I actually just pour mine into the dumpster or trash - though if you have garbage pickup (no dumpster) i would put it in a disposable container and put it out with your garbage.
Gosh, I guess let it cool in a coffee can and dispose of it with the garbage. Just don't put it down your drain! It's very bad for the plumbing!
While it is still a liquid pore it into a disposable container that will not melt, I suggest a washed water or juice bottle. Then throw it out.

Do not pour it down your sink as it is bad for your plumbing and may clog things.

How do I get cooking oil out of my carpet?

I spilled my deep frier full of oil(about a half galon/veg. oil)all over the carpet,How can I get this soaked up and cleaned up???How do I get cooking oil out of my carpet?
Start by putting clean cat litter on it overnight. Then vacuum it up and use dawn soap on the spot for about ten minutes. By the time you get the dawn out it will have gotten most of the oil out. It may not match the rest of the carpet because it will be cleaner for a while. How do I get cooking oil out of my carpet?
The first thing you need to do is soak up the oil before it soaks underneath the carpet. If you have a wet/dry vac (this sucks up liquid along with dirt and debris), vacuum up the oil. Otherwise, place a couple of white paper towels or cloths on the stain and blot it out--DO NOT RUB!

Liquid detergent helps clean up oil and grease stains from carpet. Apply about a teaspoon or more of detergent and a cup of water onto the stain. Blot the stain out using the towels, apply more water to rinse it out, then blot again (or use the wet/dry vac to suck up the solution). Repeat this until the stain is gone.
Use Dawn dishwashing liquid ... it'll get it out.

How can I produce cooking oil from Palm Oil Kernels?

Can the oil be used after cold pressing the kernels or do I still need to filter it out?How can I produce cooking oil from Palm Oil Kernels?
You can cold pressing the oil and you have to filter it because little peaces of the kernels also passes the press. After that you have to heat up the oil in order to destroy enzymes which lead to oil degradation within a short time. How can I produce cooking oil from Palm Oil Kernels?
Yeah just filter out the pure oil and use it.

Neighbor throwing cooking oil next to my house on my property, what can I do?

I live in Texas in a new subdivision and my neighbor is throwing cooking oil on my property next to my house, what can I do. I called the home owners association and the health association and they can do anything about it. They advised me to go to the civil court? What should I do?Neighbor throwing cooking oil next to my house on my property, what can I do?
You can call Environmental Health. This is gross, and very dangerous.

If that does not work call the fire department.Neighbor throwing cooking oil next to my house on my property, what can I do?
get a restraining order against your neighbour. if he does it again then he can go to jail. the restraining order can also prevent him from taking it out on you or your family where ever he might meet your family or any of your property such as your cars, your fence, etc. if he should meet any of your family members in public, at a store or restaurants, etc. he has to stay a certain distance from you. if he doesn't then he can be arrested and jailed. to get a restraining order go to your county courthouse tell them you need a restraining order against a neighbour. they will give you a form to fill out. make sure you know his name and address.
Contact the environmental dept and explain that he is dumping pollutants on you property.
    Go to civil court.
    civil court
    Throw it back.
call the city - there are laws against that .
    Ask them to stop!
    buy a dog..!!

or get some of ur food and trow it back!!

    or just call the police!!

Is there a way to make my non-diesel car run on cooking oil or something other than regular gasoline?

I know there's a conversion kit to allow diesel cars to switch over to cooking oil but is there any way a regular car can do that? It doesn't have to be cooking oil. Just something other than gasoline. Is there a way to make my non-diesel car run on cooking oil or something other than regular gasoline?
You can also modify your engine to run on compressed natural gas, like a lot of United Parcel trucks. It's not a simple conversion, but it can be done.Is there a way to make my non-diesel car run on cooking oil or something other than regular gasoline?
You might want to call the NWTC automotive or diesel instructors. They've really been getting into alternative fuel vehicles in the past year or two (including the diesel-cooking oil thing, but also hybrid vehicles, etc.) I don't think I've heard of them converting a gasoline engine, but they would know what's possible and what's practical.

FYI, I don't think you need a conversion kit to put biodiesel in a diesel car; area soybean farmers are putting it into their old tractors. I do think you have to be aware of extreme cold. You can also mix biodiesel with regular diesel.

My personal solution: bought an old compact car that gets twice the gas mileage that our SUV does. It will pay for itself in 1 year and cut our emissions in half right away.
Nope. You'll void the warranty and pollution laws, for one thing. Put bio-diesel in your tank and your car won't be running at all until you can somehow clean out the fuel tank.

And while gasoline is expensive, it's a lot cheaper than anything else. Alcohol, for example, has maybe half the energy of gasoline, and so you can guess what that will do for mileage and performance. You could try compressed natural gas, but it will be an interesting exercise: I don't know how you do it with a fuel-injected car, which built for liquid fuels only.

So the solution is probably to learn how to get along using your car less. Driving slower helps a lot as well.
spark ignition engines cannot run cooking oil as a fuel. the problem is not enough compression pressure, and thus not enough heat in the combustion chamber. same thing with diesel. you can mix a small amount of diesel in with gasoline and burn that.

you can use alcohol as a fuel provided you replace any plastic in the fuel system, use larger injectors, and reflash the computer to hand alcohol.
Craigslist will let you convert your car into a different one that runs diesel. Then you just have to modify it to run veggie oil.
No gas is about the only choice you have.
I currently run Bio Fuel (straight vegetable) in a 1999 Dodge 3500 truck. But all Cummins engines were modified from the factory to run on BioD since around 1992 without any modification.

Biofuel is recognized by both the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an alternative fuel, and qualifies for mandated programs under the Clean Air Act Amendments and the Environmental Protection Act of 1992 (EPAct).

USDA Clears Air with Biofuel: Buses and other diesel-burning vehicles run cleaner if they mix biofuel with regular diesel fuel, said the US Department of Agriculture at a biofuel fuel seminar at a USDA research center.

Conversely most major automotive manufacturers (Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, etc) recommend the use of bio fuels, and nearly every car manufacturer in the world approves ethanol blends in their warranty coverage.

In fact your probably even driving an ethanol car and didn't even know it.

    The trick is finding fuel.

I've been producing biofuel for about 3 years now, it's not extremely difficult. Basically you need general household ingredients, a processor (or still for ethanol) and some used oil. Blend it, let separate, screen and use. I complied a guide a while back to help walk you threw the process step by step, just email me or check out..

鈥?1 liter of new vegetable oil, whatever the supermarket sells as cooking oil

鈥?200 ml of methanol, 99+% pure

鈥?lye catalyst -- either potassium hydroxide (KOH) or sodium hydroxide (NaOH)

    鈥?blender or mini-processor

鈥?scales accurate to 0.1 grams, preferably less -- 0.01 grams is best

鈥?measuring beakers for methanol and oil

鈥?half-liter translucent white HDPE (#2 plastic) container with bung and screw-on cap

鈥?2 funnels to fit the HDPE container

鈥?2-litre PET bottle (water or soft-drinks bottle) for settling

鈥?two 2-litre PET bottles for washing

    鈥?duct tape

    鈥?thermometer

Use the ';Methoxide the easy way'; method -- it's also the safe way. Here's how to do it.

Measure out 200 ml of methanol and pour it into the half-liter HDPE container via the funnel. Methanol also absorbs water from the atmosphere so do it quickly and replace the lid of the methanol container tightly. Don't be too frightened of methanol, if you're working at ordinary room temperature and you keep it at arm's length you won't be exposed to dangerous fumes.

Carefully add the lye to the HDPE container via the second funnel. Replace the bung and the screw on the cap tightly.

Shake the container a few times -- swirl it round rather than shaking it up and down. The mixture gets hot from the reaction. If you swirl it thoroughly for a minute or so five or six times over a period of time the lye will completely dissolve in the methanol, forming sodium methoxide or potassium methoxide. As soon as the liquid is clear with no undissolved particles you can begin the process.

The more you swirl the container the faster the lye will dissolve. With NaOH it can take from overnight to a few hours to as little as half-an-hour with lots of swirling (but don't be impatient, wait for ALL the lye to dissolve). Mixing KOH is much faster, it dissolves in the methanol more easily than NaOH and can be ready for use in 10 minutes.

Using a blender. Use a spare blender you don't need or get a cheap secondhand one -- cheap because it might not last very long, but it will get you going until you build something better.

Check that the blender seals are in good order. Make sure all parts of the blender are clean and dry and that the blender components are tightly fitted.

Pre-heat the oil to 55 deg C (130 deg F) and pour it into the blender.

With the blender still switched off, carefully pour the prepared methoxide from the HDPE container into the oil.

Secure the blender lid tightly and switch on. Lower speeds should be enough. Blend for at least 20 minutes.

Using a mini-processor. Follow the instructions below and improvise where necessary -- there are many ways of building a processor like this.

Proceed with processing as above, maintain temperature at 55 deg C (130 deg F), process for one hour.

How do I remove an cooking oil stain from a t-shirt?

I used Dawn dish soap to get my cooking oil stains out of my clothes. How do I remove an cooking oil stain from a t-shirt?
Put a pinch of cornstarch or baby powder with cornstarch on the spot. Rub it in. Wait as long as you can (10 minutes or a day). Dust it off and wash it as you would. You can skip the washing step if the t-shirt is on your body -- just keep dusting it. If the spot doesn't go away, repeat the process with the cornstarch. Cornstarch absorbs the oil out of the fabric. How do I remove an cooking oil stain from a t-shirt?
spray the stain with simple green or any other degreeser...simple green works best though...and wash as normal.
I also agree with using Dawn...and just letting it sit in for a bit. Another product that works really well is Greased Lightning...it's a household cleaner (degreaser) that I wouldn't be without and can also be used to pre-treat laundry.
Try putting Dawn dish soap on the spot, rubbing it in and then washing it.
Use Dawn dish washing liquid it breaks up any oil stain fast! Be sure to use cold water to make it really lather.
I have no idea but want to hear all they answers, because I'm a real messy cook and half my clothes are ruined.
I swear by Goo Gone. I haven't found anything that it won't remove from clothing. My son gets motor oil on his shirts and it takes it out like magic.

  • How do you discard of cooking oil (2 Liters) that was used for frying chicken?

I certainly will not be pouring the oil down my drain, but I'm not sure how to get rid of all of this oil properly. I was thinking of waiting to see if it hardens and then throwing it out with the garbage. However, I'm guessing it could take a really long time for this much oil to harden, maybe even days... I really dont want chicken fried oil sitting in my kitchen all week. What should I do?How do you discard of cooking oil (2 Liters) that was used for frying chicken?
As you wisely said, don't put it down any of your plumbing.

Let it cool first. Then put in a sealed container - old glad plastic ware, liter soda bottles, coffee can with lid, etc.

If you don't have a sealed container, put in a container and put in paper towels or newspaper to kind of soak the grease up. Make sure you double bag it. You don't want it all over your can and you don't want (ugh!) maggots. Personally, I'd keep it in the fridge and dispose of it the night before garbage pick up. That way you'll be sure to avoid the maggots. How do you discard of cooking oil (2 Liters) that was used for frying chicken?
Cooled add some cat litter to a plastic bag inside a cardboard box and dump it there, your can pour it into you garden it is biodegradable, never pour it down the sink or toilet it will solidify or clog the outside pipes and the sewage could backup into your house, most likely when your out, some city's have pick up and they clean it and use it for bio-diesel production, or find a restaurant and ask if you can leave with there's.
if it is any kind of oil, it will not harden. i always put it back in the original container, seal tightly and discard. if i don't have the original, i pull an oj or milk gallon out of the recycle bin.
Use a old coffee container, or a 2-liter bottle used for soda than just discard with trash.

Or use a lg trash bag, check for holes!
pour it down the toilet while flushing.
u could put it in something seal-able like soda bottles and throw it away

How can i scrub off cooking oil stains from a hotplate undercover?

recommend an inexpensive cleaner please? am on a budget but i need to get this apartment truly sterling to get my deposit backHow can i scrub off cooking oil stains from a hotplate undercover?
If they are removable then buy replacements. They're not that expensive and can save you a lot of hassle.

Try no fume oven cleaner or Dawn Power Dissolver (probably will require more scrubbing)How can i scrub off cooking oil stains from a hotplate undercover?
lol. I know what you mean. Go to safeway and the stove cleaner is the best to get. It attacks the skum very well, Now the key is not to apply and then wipe. Apply the cleaner and let it go to work a good 10 minutes or so. Overnight is best. By time you go back to it, the skum pills off like butter. Good Luck!!
If you are looking for cheap the best thing is an SOS pad the kind that has soap and elbow grease.

There is some stuff called grease be gone that retails around 4-6 dollars and you get let it soak a bit but I found that I still need to scrub.
Cut a lemon in half. Rub the bottom of the pan with lemon and salt. It will remove all that greasy buildup.
i'd toss them and buy new ones at walmart. they only cost a few bucks and you'll save HOURS and HOURS of scrubbing the old ones.

go price them at walmart--seriously. they will look BRAND NEW and save you a TON of time and elbow grease!
try spraying it with oven cleaner and letting it set 20 minutes or so. It should loosen the oil where it will be easily wiped up. Good Luck!
I would try spraying on a bit of oven cleaner and letting it soak.
i would use dawn dishsoap or ovencleaner

If you abuse the oil method, without care.... I agree things can go wrong and damage can occurr

    If in doubt..... do without

It is illegal because you are avoiding paying fuel tax.

It is done, but the oil is filtered many times and is added to existing diesel engine fuel. I think you cannot use it completely on its own because it can eventually clog the pipes in the engine...I know some people are also using red diesel for boats in there cars as this is cheaper and less taxed, but again illegal. Its coloured red to distinguish it from normal diesel.
    NO !!!

They have to convert the used cooking oil to bio-diesel FIRST. Otherwise you risk damaging your fuel delivery system and/or the engine.

Don't do it. Any money you save today, you'll end up using 10x on car repair.

    Good Luck...
Yes its true i have been running mine on a 50/50 mix for two years and you can use 2500 lites per year with no duty due. however the supermarkets (Tesco) have raised the price of pura cooking oil from 68p litre 2 months ago to 拢1.08 a litre theiving buggers...
Yes it is called Bio diesel. But you dont just pour it into your tank it isnt quite that simple. You have to boil it ,clean it , and add ethonol. You can buy it at some petrol stations but i am not sure where.
Yes is it true, but old cooking oil is only being burnt in older deisel engines and then only when it mixed about 50-50. Newer deisel engines wont support this fuel unless mixed with the right amount of methanol and filtered properly.
yes its true...NO MODS in my brothers car, used chip shop fat strait into the tank...any body says it has to be chainged to bio fuel is talking bull...the vw 19 di engine burns it neat...
yes it's true but it is converted into bio diesel first

Does cooking oil ever go bad?

if you have cooking oil in your deep fryer and never used it, can it go bad?Does cooking oil ever go bad?
yes it will, it goes rancid you can tell by the smell, I would not use oil after 3 times.Does cooking oil ever go bad?
Yes. Oil gets rancid over time.
Yea. It goes bad when there isnt no yellow color to it.
    oil goes bad fairly quickly

I would not use oil that was left in a deep fryer if it is more than a month old (and if it was used I would not use it again if it was more than a week old)
    It does not go bad.
    Not really.

Will cooking oil come out of my jeans?

I was cooking sausages in hot oil, and it splashed all over my new jeans.. will it come out? (sunflower oil)Will cooking oil come out of my jeans?
I would put something on them first... something to take care of that oil.

Dawn dish soap maybe, or some inexpensive shampoo....

Do not dry them until it's all out or it will set the stain. Will cooking oil come out of my jeans?
Try baby powder ,it absorb the oil .The soak it for an hour in TIDE,then wash.
use washing up liquid on the stain first before you put in the wash..
Pretreat with liquid Tide. Wash as usual.
No oil can come out of clothing useing a washing machine. If you put your jeans in the washing machine you have a risk of fire, death, explosen.
Try dabbing waterless handcleaner (Goop) on the fabric. Let it sit a few minutes and then wash in water as hot as the fabric can stand.

You might also try dish soap. Dish soap is designed to cut grease.

Both methods have worked for me.

Try a small area in a seam to make sure you don't fade the color.

    Good luck!
Hi,i work on cars for a living and i get pretty and greasy and oily at times.I have a cheap way of taking oil and grease out of my clothes.Wash your stained clothes on a regular cycle with a can of coke, and no soap. Then wash the same clothes right after with just soap.

This what i do and it works extremely well, hope this helps.
Yep. Pretreat it with Tide before you wash.

You ever think about using an apron? Me neither, though I have tons of them. That's how I know about Tide!
Yeah let it soak in cold water with shout it out, no problem,
Try to absorb some of the oil with baby powder.

Then put some Clorox for colored clothes on the spot and wash as usual.

**note make sure it's clorox for colored clothes.
I work for a Road Department, so I get tar, oil, and grease on my clothes all the time. I use a product called Solv-All. It's an orange based product, so I imagine any of the citris based products will work. Spray some on the spot.....both sides....and let it set for about 20 minutes before you throw it in the wash. It won't fade the color of your jeans.

My wife has used the stuff to get out stains that nothing else would touch. it's great stuff.
I don't know where you live, but may be you'll be able to find it, the name of the product is ';Lestoil'; and is one of the best things to remove and to cut away to oil and greasy stuffs, perhaps is gently with clothing. You can apply it directly into the affected area. Do not use dish washing detergents, they may affect the fabrics and your clothing.
It should. For added strength, use some sort of commercial product to enhance cleaning. I have used the oxi clean from a spray bottle, and it cleans anything I have used it for. I split oil on my seude shoes. I sprayed with oxi clean and it worked. Cooking oil is a substance that will usually break down with cleaning agents, so your jeans should be okay. Good luck

Does it make that big of a diffrence? I don't have butter or wax patere so that's out.I'm baking cookies. When I oil the cookie sheet, could I just use PAM cooking oil instead of the baking kind?
I use regular Pam all the time when baking. Your cookies should be fine.I'm baking cookies. When I oil the cookie sheet, could I just use PAM cooking oil instead of the baking kind?
It's actually healthier for you to use PAM than regular oil because a lot less oil is on the cookie sheet, so less will be absorbed by the cookies. I particularly like using the butter-flavored PAM with cookies.
i use pam all the time, it isn't going to make it taste any different, just don't put a ton on.. just enough so the cookies won't stick to the pan.
You sure can use PAM cooking oil. The baking kind has similar properties as the regular cooking oil so it serves basically the same purpose. I've done it multiple times and it works just fine.
Yes you can, thats all i use.
Why add any oil at all? Just use parchment paper. No sticking and easy cleanup.
If you can afford PAM, go for it. If not, try one of the store brand equivalents.
Yeah, sure, go ahead. It shouldn't make much of a difference.
I usually use PAM. It works great !

When is it best to use butter as opposed to cooking oil? Which cooking oil is best for cooking what?

I usually just use corn oil for everything. When is it best to use butter as opposed to cooking oil? Which cooking oil is best for cooking what?
Well butter gets a lot more hotter than oil does and it has a salty flavor to it. Just tonight I pan fried pork chops in butter because I think they taste better. I wouldn't recommend deeping frying anything in it though..

And when it comes to frying in oil, I only use Peanut Oil. Again it seems to cook a little higher in temp as the others and gives a nice taste. When is it best to use butter as opposed to cooking oil? Which cooking oil is best for cooking what?
Hi Twighlight, where does one start with you. I use extra virgin olive oil, if I was deep frying chips/fries then I would use the vegetable oil I have both on hand. Butter ( I use unsalted) has a tendency to burn, so I add olive oil to it also. It's really a matter of individual choice. If you look closely at those cooking shows, The chef's use Extra Virgin Olive Oil 99% of the time.

    Chris
The cooking oil is dependent on the temperature that you cook your food and the taste you want to impart. For example, Enola oil will give you a healthy alternative to corn oil. Peanut oil is good very Asian dishes as Olive oil is good for Mediterranean dishes.
For me it's usually a matter of taste. I would fry an egg in butter, but I wouldn't want an oil fried egg.

The other thing is how long you need to fry the food. Butter burns faster than oil, so if I were frying potatoes, I'd use oil.

I use veggie oil,or extra virgin olive oil.

If a recipe calls for butter I use no salt butter because recipes usually call for salt anyhow.I use and prefer extra virgin oil even in baking sweets. Comes out better.

Can a gasoline car be modified to run on vegetable or cooking oil?

Hi yahoo answers, I read that a diesel engine can run off of cooking oil (with a conversion kit). Can my gas engine run off of anything but gas? I am trying to be more green and save some green at the same time but I dont know if I can convert my gas engine to run on anything but gas...thanks for your help! Can a gasoline car be modified to run on vegetable or cooking oil?
No you can't modify your gas motor to run on vegetable oil, but what you can do is convert to ethanol but really ethanol isn't really the answer till they find something other than corn to make it from. what I would do if i was you is to convert your motor to run on LP(liquid propane) its a little cheaper than gas and a little bit greener than gas. It will pay off in the long run. Or you can trade in on a diesel vehicle, but anyway I hope I was of some helpCan a gasoline car be modified to run on vegetable or cooking oil?
Yea, it's a dieasel engine. You have to have clean or filtered oil add a filter the engine . Mythbusters did it.
It is near impossible to change a gasoline engine to a diesel. The heat in the diesel is much higher.
Not if the oil tycoons have anything to say about it and thay always seem to be the ones in power.hhhmmm.
I think if you re-did your whole entire engine it might work
    No,you need a diesel.However I use wvo in my 2 cycle engines,smells good.

How do get rid of burn marks caused by very hot cooking oil?

I put some oil in a wok and it started to catch on fire so I put in the food I was cooking. Then the flames started to get really high so I tossed the food around in the wok and than some oil splattered onto my arm. I couldnt treat it right away because I was cooking in front of a customer. Now my arm has brown dots and lines from the oil. It looks like I have some sort of skin disease, how do I get rid of these marks quickly? How do get rid of burn marks caused by very hot cooking oil?
There is nothing that will take away scars and burns. The very best at minimizing the redness and reducing to the least noticable is to apply vitamin E. I have had burns, scars and my daughter has had scars and this is the ONLY thing that really helped to minimize it.How do get rid of burn marks caused by very hot cooking oil?
put burn cream on it. keep it clean. go to a doctor. can you describe what the burn oringialy looked like. ie was it just red, was there a blister, was your skin completly charrred.
cocoa butter cream. it works really well for scaring and burns. Keep it moisturized. And possibly try an exfoliant any kind of shower gel scrub. Makes sure the scrub is rough and not just little balls.

How do i remove cooking oil from my clothes?

its on my cotton white top and light brown cord skirt. How do i remove cooking oil from my clothes?
hi there, try putting on neat wshing powder and dampen with a little water fold your garments up and pop then in a plastic bag overnight then wash as normal, this should do the trick, but if not you could also try ironing your garments with a sheet of brown paper over the stain, the heat should absorb the oil onto the paper,xx glHow do i remove cooking oil from my clothes?
Bio washing powder with a long soak, or petrol and a good airing after !
place a piece of brown paper over the oil and iron the paper soaks up the oil keep refreshing the paper to a cleaner part when its coming up stain free rub some liquid detergent into the remainer and wash on their own so the water washes them well xxx
lay the item out flat, put kitchen roll over the stain, then itron over that, you might have to repeat a couple of times depending on the size of the stain, but it should come out eventually.

    xxx
Try Dawn dishwashing soap. If that doesn't work, soak in pine sol and then launder.
Use toothpaste. Just rub a small amount on the stain and wash as normal. Works for me.
Fairy soap,(household one, not bathroom) rub on to stain then wash as usual
In days gone by, they used to iron the spot with brown paper- top and bottom. The heat from the iron would send the oil through to the paper.
soak with cold water add a small abount of washing up detergent, leave for a few min麓s then pop into your machine on a 40潞c wash
Dawn dish soap works really well, because it is a degreaser. Apply it to the stain at least 20 minutes before you wash it. If you have already run it through the dryer, you have likely ';set'; the stain. If so, make a paste of Dawn and baking soda. Apply it to the stains and let it sit overnight. Launder as usual.
    wash it?

Does taking several spoonful of olive, canola Cooking oil beneficial to health?

The book said they are mono/polysaturated in fat unlike other fat that came from dairy products.

So does intake of several spoonful of these cooking oil beneficial?

Do you think the book mean cooking oil or what?Does taking several spoonful of olive, canola Cooking oil beneficial to health?
I wouldnt be drinking it, the book does not mean to drink several spoonfuls. It means that using this kind of oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oils and other types with monounsaturated fats is best when cooking food.

For example, if u are frying an egg, don't use butter (because it has tons of saturated fats, both poly and monosaturateds) and tons of cholesterol... use extra virgin olive oil, it has no polysaturated fats... it is better for your body to not get poly saturated, or even monosaturated fats..

So don't drink it, you get enough fat as it is.... just use it to cook with ,and you will be better off.Does taking several spoonful of olive, canola Cooking oil beneficial to health?

What oil to cook meat in? all I can find is vegetable cooking oil?

I'm new to cooking, could do with some help, I want to cook a steak and all I can find on the supermarket shelf is vegetable oil. can I use that, or should I use meat oil? What oil to cook meat in? all I can find is vegetable cooking oil?
Oils can come from seeds/nuts, cereals and vegetables. The one we use for most cooking is simply vegetable, corn or sunflower oil. The things like olive oil and sesame and walnut oils are mainly used for flavouring.

Of course, fats are also used in cooking - like butter or lard and any of the processed fats - and some meats are cooked in lard. A lot of it depends on your preference. What oil to cook meat in? all I can find is vegetable cooking oil?
Thomas Keller, arguably the best chef in America, uses simple canola oil for searing meat prior to roasting. It has a sufficiently high breaking point and is not costly. It is also neutral in flavor. If it is a large piece of meat requiring roasting time in the oven, I would avoid finishing with butter until late in the cooking process. The butter may burn if used too early.

There are meat fats however. Auguste Escoffier was big on using rendered ox fat for cooking french fries (pont neuf potatoes). Great color, great flavor, high breaking point and it would otherwise be waste.

Duck and goose fat fries are also seen on many restaurant menus today.
For a steak sometimes I cut a bit of the extra fat off it and cook that in the pan a bit to grease it.

If the steak has a very thick edge of fat (T bone) I like to cut some of that off and I would rather cook it and then throw it in the garbage anyway - so it goes in the pan, sizzle it up and discard.

A bit of butter is good too especially for filet mignon.

NO SUCH THING AS MEAT OIL? - what the heck is lard my friend, or tallow or suet. It is solid at room temp but melts down to oil very fast.

Do NOT boil your steak first - regardless of what the person who said he is a cook has to say.
If you have a grill or broiler you do not even need oil ...the fat in the meat will be enough to cook it OR..you can shake some salt over the surface of the frying pan and let it get hot before placing the steak in the pan. It forms a buffer between the meat and pan and prevents it from burning.

In the future have on hand olive oil it's very healthy or canola oil.

If you do lots of frying for chicken, fish or french fries, egg rolls get some peanut oil it has a higher flash point. That means it will take the higher longer temperatures. But be especially careful when deep frying you must stay right there and not turn your back on the pan.

Many times I use olive oil and butter together for saute of mushrooms and other tender veggies or meats.

I always use butter for scrambled eggs...nothing else will do.

Get the pan hot before adding the beaten eggs so it starts cooking right away stir quickly it will be done in seconds..take the pan on and off the heat so it does not burn ...as you are stirring the eggs.

There are many flavorful oils that are great for adding to salads when you get to that point buy some walnut oil, truffle oil, ..oh and if you like hot spicy foods there is Chile oil you can add to pasta dishes or fried rice dishes...I'm sure there are many more on the grocer's shelf but this is all my brain can think of this morning...happy cooking!

    Best oil wishes,

    Mama Jazzy Geri
vegetable oil is used for cooking meat, fish and chicken and other food.don't cook the meat in butter.you can also cook the meat in olive oil which is available in all supermarkets but the meat wont be tasty. people who are on a diet usually cook in olive oil since it has less fat than vegetable oil.
There is no such thing as meat oil or an oil specified to cook meat

Butter will do fine if you are pan frying the beef. Corn, a generic vegetable mix, or any oil will do, really.

Butter cooks a steak great, as long as you are careful in pre heating the pan and when to add the beef.
    Hello,

You don't need to cook meat inside any oil. You parboil the meat in the water and add some spices in it. After the boiling, you can either bleach palm oil and fry the meat with it or use the vegetable oil to fry it depends on choice. ok.
Okay, vegetable cooking oil does not mean oil for cooking vegetables in. It means it is derived from vegetables. It is perfectly suitable for cooking meat. So is Canola Oil, Sesame Oil, Olive Oil, and Peanut Oil.
I use a cheap olive oil to cook my steaks and then finish them in butter to give colour and flavour.

You can't cook the steak in butter as it burns and you don't need expensive olive oil as you want to taste the meat, not the oil.
Use olive oil. And black pepper, and sea salt and a bit of onion and when it's fried keep it warm and put half a glass of red wine in the pan, stir in all the burnt bits till they dissolve, boil this down to a couple of spoonfuls and pour over the meat.
Sounds like Olive oil is the order of the day. There are a million different types of olive oils available. Olive oil is excellent for cooking red meats under low to medium heat. But I think I would stick with canola oil for the more delicate of white meats.
YOUD BE BETTER OF GRILLING IT OR BROILING IT.

LET ME TELL YOU PUT HE STAKE IN A PAN CUT UP SOME POTATOES AND ONOINS AND ANY OTHER VEGATABLE'S AND PUT OVER THE STEAK. MAKE SURE U PUT UR SPICES FOR A BETTER TASE PUT SPICES ON VEGTABLES. PUT WATER HALF WAY AND PUT IN OVEN. AN HOUR AND U GOT A TASTEY STEAK AND SOME.
try rapeseed oil - it has more of the omega minerals than olive oil in it and can be cooked at a higher temperature

its great for cooking meat in - its also now more widely available in supermarkets
Sorry old fruit but fat is not meat oil. Just rendered fat.

Try cold pressing meat or milling meat and see what you get.

Any Oil used for cooking is from a vegetable source.

What Kind of cooking oil is the healthiest?

?What Kind of cooking oil is the healthiest?
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is best. Canola oil is cheaper and good too. What Kind of cooking oil is the healthiest?
It depends on which doctor, nutritionist, dietician, etc you are talking to and the school where they got their education.

Any of the oils are good and healthy!!! The thing is that someone one time said that oil, fat, lard, suet, etc was bad for people because their granddad ate it all the time and died of a heart attack! Any excuse is as good as another in this.

I use canola, olive, and corn oils depending on what it is I am preparing. I use the least expensive I can get away with also.

A mist bottle or a set of them with various oils in them will oil your pans very nicely for ';frying';.

I also use butter, lard, suet, and Crisco shortening!!!
It depends, olive oil, grape seed oil and walnut oil are the best if you are making salad. If you are cooking with high heat, use canola oil instead. Sesame oil is another really good oil for cooking. It has a very strong flavor, so it might not be suitable for every dishes, but it goes really well for any oriental dishes.
Sunflower oil for frying, it tastes better than if you fry things in olive oil. Otherwise, olive oil is the healthiest, but I find I can put too much on sometimes, because it doesn't taste very strong. Putting on too much makes it as unhealthy as any other oil! So be careful!
    Pale olive oil, suave.

Olive oil can be used at temperature, but not the virgin, extra virgin or cold pressed. Use yellow, not green olive oil for cooking.
Olive oil is the way to go. It basicallly has good fats that keep our hair and skin moist. Be careful that you don't fry things in it because olive oil can burn and give a nasty taste.
    Canola i think

Get creative. When I was in high school, my brother decided to bake a pie. However, he didn't have any shortening to go into the pie crust recipe. So, he used some clean muslin cloth and heated and strained through it some of the used cooking oil in mom's ';grease jar'; and re-used it in the pie dough. No one could tell the difference. Were we surprised - and shocked - when he told us what he'd done. There was absolutely no taste of any cooking that it'd been used for in the past. Who the hell is going to turn cooking oil into bio fuel??? So what you geniuses are saying is go out with the little cooking oil I have, find someone that converts it (which aren't usually readily accessible, mind you), then ask that he takes my 3 pints of DIRTY canola oil and make a fuel that wouldn't even run a car for a couple miles all while burning how ever much gas to get there and back at $3.25 a gallon?? That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Do what someone else said, coffee can, refridgerator, solidify, dispose. Simple.
It would also be possible to use it in an oil lamp or candle (depending on how thick it is). This *might* smell good, depending on the oil.

    Waste cooking oil as biofuel

New findings by researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute for Materials Science and Technology, demonstrated that biodiesel made from waste cooking oil offered the greatest reductions in greenhouse gases (over 50 per cent) when compared with fossil fuels. Bioethanol made from whey also performed very well in terms of its overall environmental footprint. The least environmentally friendly biofuels identified by the study were biodiesel made from Brazilian soy and bioethanol made from potatoes, rye and soy. These were all assessed to produce lower reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and have higher negative environmental impacts.

    Based on www.ec.europa.eu/environment/life/news/

The same stuff used to fry chicken and potato wedges has become a gold mine of energy to the grocery store owner, John Stokes in Idaho.

Stokes heard about the possibility of using vegetable oil as fuel for a car engine, and recognizing his own supply of the oil, he decided to put the waste to better use. ';Not only am I not spending money on fuel, I鈥檓 saving not having to have it picked up,'; said Stokes.

He added to his 1984 Mercedes Benz a $3,000 conversion kit developed by a Seattle man. ';This is my vegetable oil tank,'; said Stokes. The Mercedes still requires diesel fuel to start the car, but after only a mile of driving the system heats the oil enough to be used as fuel and then its all veggie oil - all the time.

He says the saving should pay for the kit within a year.

or rub it with a lime leave it for half an hour the wash it.

But the best method the remove oil stains is by rubbing the area with some baby powder/white floor (it absorbs the oil) then turn the back side of the cloth and put a tissue paper on it the iron the cloth to absorb the oil remainings. then wash it.
warm water and add some baking soda to the spot...scrub with a brush..let sit for 10 minutes...then throw in wash machine as normal...also u can use this spray stuff called shout
You can use dawn dish soap it has a degreaser in it or you can use woolite.Make sure you use mild to hot water when you are trying to gert the stain out
I use ZOUT. It is really hard to find but it works better than anything I have ever seen. Oxy-clean works well too.
If it's a new stain, put a bit of talcum powder on it to absorb as much of the stain as possible. Then use a stain remover (Shout, or one of those), and allow it to set for a few minutes. Then, depending on what color it is (I wouldn't suggest this on really light colors), use the hottest water the fabric will accept, and add a can of Coca Cola (it has to be actual Coke) to the wash. Believe it or not, my husband taught me this trick. He works on the oil field, and his laundry is covered in grease and oil all the time. The acid in the Coke eats through the oil and does a really good job. Good luck!
Shout, the stain remover in the spray bottle, is really good (I get cooking oil stains on me a lot).
I never could. I tossed those pants. But I'll read these answers and try something new next time.
All of the given answers sound like good advice, but you didn't mention what type of fabric the garment was made of. That one omission of fabric type would make or destroy your garment. So I really can't add anymore than what the others suggested.......Good Luck
You do not need anything fancy, just mix some baking soda with water and scrub a little
Rub some Goop(hand cleaner) and wash it off
how about goo gone? I used it to get an ink stain outta my carpet before..
you can try rubbing it with lemon.. always remember, when that happens again, immediately get some wet paper towels and press it as hard as you can on the stain.. this will be absorbing the stain.. you can just use a dryer dry it instead..
vinegar is great for removing oil stains %26amp; so is regular degreaser like gojo %26amp; the spray that comes in a black bottle I believe it is called 88 degreaser works well too.

What is the best diesel car to buy when running it on used cooking oil?

What make of car has the best engine.

And would i be best buying a car converted to run on bio diesel or mix the used oil with some diesel or spirit etc

I have ehard that the oil eats through gasgets or somthingWhat is the best diesel car to buy when running it on used cooking oil?
    Something with a low-tech, unstressed indirect-injection engine.

A W123 or early W124-series Mercedes-Benz, Golf MkII, Peugeot 505, Astra from 1985 to 1992, any Peugeot or Citro毛n with the XUD9 (1905cc) non-turbo engine.

Do not use a direct-injection engine, and especially not a modern engine with common-rail or pumpe-duse injection.

See http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/ for more information. What is the best diesel car to buy when running it on used cooking oil?
    vauxhall corsa
Just make sure its out of warranty, Running on cooking oil invalidates warranties.

What car runs best on used cooking oil?

Ive been told german cars are better but does anyone do this already? Do you have to make any modifications? What car runs best on used cooking oil?
any as long as its a diesel engine. What car runs best on used cooking oil?
    Diesels in general.

Without modifications you cannot run on pure cooking oil as it tends to be too thick and sometimes does not lubricate as well as diesel.

You have to declare what amounts you use to HMRC and pay fuel duty on it. They catch people doing this by roadside tank dipping tests and by the fact that when running the car smells like a chippy
When making bio Diesel by using used cooking oil (for diesels only) The glycerin should be removed from the oil so you wont fowl your pump or filters. Then you need to do a titration test to make sure your fuel has the right acidity and burn rate. This can be done by adding lye. and no you don't need modifications to run bio Diesel. there is a kit made by fuel shark to do all of this its about 200$
    Have a look at http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/foru鈥?/a>

You'll need to filter the fuel carefully, and only use it in warm weather (unless you fit a fuel heater, or a twin-tank fuel system).

The best engines are indirect-injected diesels, such as the old Peugeot XUD engines or 1990s Mercedes-Benz engines.

Modern injection systems run much tighter tolerances, so are less forgiving of different fuels.
If you cant afford to buy a tank of fuel for your car, You should buy a bus pass.
a car made entirely from bacon

How long will burns in face because of cooking oil be cured?

the burn is just so small but i want to know how long will it last. is there any treatment?natural treatment for burns caused by cooking oil. how long will it go away? how many days? how can i prevent a scar on this?

    need answers

thank youHow long will burns in face because of cooking oil be cured?
Vitamin E oil is used to treat severe burns . Palm oil controls some bacteria growth. If there is a safety problem at home you may need to solve that too.How long will burns in face because of cooking oil be cured?
ouch. I dunked my hand in a deep fryer accidentally. 2nd degree burns and it took about 2 months to heal fully. No scars though.

Keep it clean, protected, and covered with cream. Don't pick at it when its half healed!! that will give you a scar.

  • How do you get old sludge cooking oil off of the bottom of a cast iron skillet?

My husband has just relocated his cast iron skillet, but it looks like it was never cleaned the last time he cooked in it. He has put dawn detergent and water in it and boiled it but it is still just a thick sludge that won't budge. Is this skillet hopeless or will a little bit of elbow grease help? Any other ';tricks'; would be greatly appreciated. How do you get old sludge cooking oil off of the bottom of a cast iron skillet?
Put it in the oven and turn the oven on and it will burn it off. Then you will have to season it after you do this with a spray of oil and then wiping it of with a paper towel. How do you get old sludge cooking oil off of the bottom of a cast iron skillet?
The most effective way to strip off even years of the most hardened crusty burnt-on grease from cast iron is to pour a mixture of water and lye into it and let it sit overnight. Lye (sodium hydroxide) is more commonly known as Crystal Drano and is usually used to unclog plumbing. Do be careful with this chemical as it's highly caustic, and when handling it make sure you wear long rubber gloves and a pair of safety goggles. Keep in mind, this treatment will also remove the seasoning from the pan and goes right down to the bare metal, so you will need to re-season the cast iron if you want it to be non-stick..

What can I use instead of cooking oil?

I'm making a fry up, and Ive ran out of cooking oil, what can I use instead? What can I use instead of cooking oil?
Butter but use a lower heat as butter burns much quicker AND expect it to be a very rich meal.

Try Ghee if you have some, fantastic flavour and can take high heat - will be super rich, though.

Alternately use a grill - I cannot live without my George Foreman one.Perfect results, healtier and sooooooooo much easier to prepare and clean up compared to a traditional 'fry up'.What can I use instead of cooking oil?
Grilled bacon, sausages etc; scrambled eggs in the microwave, or how about poached. At a push, I would fry potato scones maybe in some butter, or marge.
Bacon fat! If you fry the bacon and/or sausages first, you'll probably have enough fat to fry your eggs. Otherwise use butter. Water won't work.
Hi have you got any butter or margerine, this can be used as the same, or just grill everything instead of frying.
I don't know what a ';fry up'; is, but it sounds like it needs lots of oil. You can use cooking spray (like Pam) otherwise Crisco.
    crisco solid

    butter

    canola oil?

    virgin ollive oil?

    grape oil?

    lard?

    bacon greese?
    Castrol.
    Butter.
    use olive oil, the healthiest..=D
    Olive oil

    Butter

    You could get oil spray
Lard, butter or margarine at a push lol:)
    butter is best

if not you could try water
butter or a butter substitute if that is what u use to spread on yr bread

Your Welcome and thank you for choosing my answer as best Report Abuse

Warm water, vinegar and a drop of dish soap. Spray %26amp; wipe with soft towel. Also, make a paste out of baking soda %26amp; vineagar. It's not too abrasive but will help with those extra tuff spots.
hot water and vinegar and a scrubby. you could also try a cleaning product like greased lightening or something especially for grease.
that's a good question--I gave up %26amp; installed ceramic tiles on the wall behind my stove. unfortunately, my fridge is right beside the stove. I managed to remove some of the finish with an sos pad. grrrr. until it stopped working--a shark steam cleaner worked really good on the fridge.

What do we do with old cooking oil?

My mom dumps it down the sink but that doesn't sound right to me. How should we get rid of it safely and responsibly? What do we do with old cooking oil?
It can be recycled at a recycling center. Go on net and check for recyclers in your area. Some big business use products like that to run power and heat. It can also be used as other fuels to save energy. recycling it will save some one a good day! What do we do with old cooking oil?
Put it in an old jar and put it in the trash.
    Send it to George Foreman
    Throw it in the trash.
dumping it down the sink will clog up the drain, soak it with paper towel and throw it the trash, if you have alot, recycle it,call a restraunt they should be able to help you with that

Does anyone know how to make cooking oil from scratch?

im looking for a good recipe but there is no luck so could u help me?Does anyone know how to make cooking oil from scratch?
I cannot offer you a recipe because it is in fact a long process that requires special machines.

It start with the pulverizing of the raw product, usually sunflower seed.

Once that is in a pulp the oil is extracted and put through a cleaning sieve process to arrive at the oily final product.

Look up peanut butter manufacture. It involves a similar process.

Good luckDoes anyone know how to make cooking oil from scratch?
    its really cheep.

    i wouldnt bother

    but im lazy

What is an easy way to get rid of cooking oil?

My bf likes to fry food, but then we are left with the pot of oil which sits on the counter until he disposes of it. It drives me crazy, I don't have any coffee cans or any containers that I can think of that would contain the liquid from the sink to the garbage. Does anyone have any good ideas or tips so I don't have to look at the vegtable oil for a week at a time.

Thanks in advanceWhat is an easy way to get rid of cooking oil?
I have acouple options. I buy oil in gallon jugs from the wholesale store. So, I have a normal sized container I fill for everyday use. I keep the BIG container under the sink empty until I fry and then dump the used oil when it's cool into the empty container. An empty milk jug will work as well. You can just wait for the oil to cool and dump into the milk jug and throw away when full.

For bacon grease/dripping I have an old canister I use... When the grease becomes solid- I will freeze and toss outside in the woods for the deer, birds, etc.... Or I melt it in the micro and give it to the dog in her food. Her coat is nice and shiny.... What is an easy way to get rid of cooking oil?
I wash and save all plastic jars, like mayo or peanut butter just for that purpose, dump in the oil, screw on the lid and toss, no worry of lid coming loose and oil spilling.
Get the hot tap running fast and hot and tip down the drain. Now I know everybody is going to tell me off for this but putting it out for landfill is just as bad.
If you have a funnel, you can pour it into a milk jug.=)
You could put it in the fridge and then put blocks of it out for the birds.

  • With the rising prices on everything from gas to cooking oil, what are some ways to save money?

everything is going up in price...i noticed at the store today that cooking oil went from $1.88 and is now $3.28.....with the growing price on everything, what are some ways that my family can save money? With the rising prices on everything from gas to cooking oil, what are some ways to save money?
You have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T. What kind of cutbacks can you make? For example: I drink bottled water. Now at $1 a bottle on something that covers over 65% of our planet is not smart. So I bought one of those water filters that screw into your faucet. I have bottles that I refil over and over again. I take them to work. Do you have a lot of small appliances around that house that are always on? I cut my electronic bill almost in half by unplugging all the clock radios and night lights. I also bought some of those florescent bulbs that look a lot like a regular bulb. These things use 80% less electricity than regular bulbs. You would be surprised, but these small things add up. I know I was spending money on the water filter and energy efficient bulbs but these things will pay for themselves in a month providing they pertain to you. If you really need the money right away start cutting back on your food costs. Romain noodles cost a dime and they taste just as good as campbells chicken noodle that costs $130 a can. Ok no chicken in romain noodles, but you are probably just missing about 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Put a brick inside your toilet 'chamber'. You will use a little lesser water each time you flush..Before you know it you will be ahead. Wanna be creative? Find yourself leaving lights on? Buy a motion sensor switch, the lights will turn on when you enter the room and will turn off (by a set amount of time) when you leave the room. I have one, they cost $15 at HomeDepot. Need new windshield wipers for your car? Who says you have to buy 2? You only need the new one on the drivers side, leave the old wiper on the passenger side. So remember you have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T! Yours truly seahorsehawrey. With the rising prices on everything from gas to cooking oil, what are some ways to save money?
One way I know about to save electricity is to actually unplug your appliances (not your fridge of course though!). Even when they're turned off, they will continue to use electricity as long as they are plugged in to the wall.

The rising costs of prices...or a side effect of inflation, is something you can also protect yourself against if your family has any type of stock portfolio by investing in gold, commodities, or TIPS (treasury inflation protected securities). The article linked in my sources does a good job of talking about ways you can protect your investing portfolio and savings from inflation.
Ya, tell me about it! Well, Google search 'money saving tips' and you will get lists of websites that give you more lists of how to save some money. A good one that I remembered is not to go shopping when you're hungry, since you're less likely to impulse buy. Also, try buying generic brands on some items, it's a lot cheaper. I could tell you a little more, but you should really research it and read it! There's some good stuff out there!

    Well, good luck!
COUPONS! cut coupons, buy coupons on ebay, don't throw out coupons! Pack a lunch! Prepare it the night before and put a sticky note on the door that says ';don't forget lunch';.

Fill up your gas tank at night or early morning. When its HOTTER, believe it or not you get robbed because the gas is bubbling from hot air and you get less! TRUE I researched it.

Plan fun activities that DON'T involve driving like FAMILY BOARD GAME night and HOMEMADE PIZZA night.

Start to think before you drive, what else do I need when I'm out and know that it costs you (depending on car) about $1 every 5 miles you drive! (give or take a mile).

Good luck, my wife and I are expecting our third any week now (a girl finally) and I can't stop worrying about the $$$$

Can sesame cooking oil be used for body massage purposes?

I am wondering if sesame cooking oil can be used on the skin? Or would that be a different kind of sesame oil?

I was reading about sesame oils many uses and one of them was for massage purposes.

Can sesame cooking oil be used for body massage purposes?
I don't know about it for massage, but I do know it's safe for skin. My son has severe dry skin and the doc recommended sesame oil. They have a filtered version of sesame at Bath and Body Works that smells a lot better and isn't too expensive. Neutrogena also has a line of sesame oil (for bath or massage) that smells heavenly. Have fun!Can sesame cooking oil be used for body massage purposes?
    yes also olive oil.
I say why not!! It won't hurt you and rubbing it all over can lead to ';other'; activities!! Good luck!!
