Spilt cooking oil and mopped it up using towels but that seemed to embed it into the carpet. In some areas I used my wet vac to suck the oil up as much as we could and then cleaned the carpet. But carpet still looks dirty and it seem like the dirt is sticking to where the oil was spilt. I can see the stains on the carpet. Now sure what to use or how to clean the carpet to get the oil out and the carpet cleaned properly. should I be looking at getting a professional cleaner in or is there something out in the market that I can use. I have a carpet cleaner a magic queen that converts from a vacuum to a wet vac where I can use water from the tap an wash my carpet and then suck the dirty water up. What should I do?I spilt cooking oil on my carpet. How do I clean it out?
Use Spot Shot! It is the most wonderful carpet cleaner! I have used it on grease stains that were years old and it took them right out.
If your carpet is Berber then you will probably need to call out a professional. If you decide to, then let them know before they come what the problem is so that they are prepared.
You can also use spot shot on you clothes to help remove stains. It is the best product I have ever used. You wouldn't believe the things it has taken out of my carpet.
Be careful what you put on your carpet because you don't want to put a lot of water on it because it will make the stain bleed into the padding and then even though the stain may look like it is gone it will continue to return every few weeks.
The spot shot is very easy to use and you can see the results immediately.
Hope this helps and good luck!I spilt cooking oil on my carpet. How do I clean it out?
Dish detergent will do the trick. The key is to use only just enough. So, that may be vague, but if you use too much, you'll just have to rinse and rinse and rinse and rinse. A professional carpet cleaner gave me this hint: When cleaning your carpets yourself, don't use the commercial products, use Dawn. He said specifically ';a drop in a gallon of water';. So, the key is a little, but that was for general cleaning. As you have a mess, you may need a tad more.
Lestoil its a floor cleaner but I use it for laundry to take out grass and oil and grease stains all the time also have used on carpet as well doesn't bleach or effect the colour or feel of that spot @ all just let it set in for a little bit before cleaning off. Also used it with carpet shampooer as well instead of the carpet solution.
I would use cornmeal. Pat some dry cornmeal on it and leave it for couple of hours. Then sweep it up then try a carpet cleaners. It get cooking oil out of clothes.
try using a little Dawn dish washing liquid on a wet cloth
Dawn gets the grease off dishes and take grease spots out of clothes
cant hurt to try
I'm sorry that happened to your carpet.. You could try using baking soda or kitty litter to soak up any left over oil. Then vacumn before trying the heavy duty store-bought products.
Good luck.
I would try kitty litter let it soak up the oil then shop vac it up if not check out automotive store see what the sell to soak up oil! Good luck!
Try repeatedly covering the area with baking soda and gently rubbing it into the carpet as you blow dry it (with a blowdryer) on high heat. Do this for about 30 seconds, vacuum and begin again.
