How do you dispose safely of cooking oil?

Like the oil from the chip pan, is it toxic for the the invorement? How do you dispose safely of cooking oil?
I would guess Stellas helper is 'not that concerned about the environment' and mainly hangs around the global warming section.

Don' filter it and pu it in your diesl car unless you engine is an old workhorse which is known to be able to take it.

follow one of these links and make a test batch of biodiesel and put that in your car.

Turn it into soap (similar method to biodiesel), add perfume (or not) and tell me what uses you make of it and if it still smells of old chip fat.

Join or contact a local environmental group and see if there are any biodiesel homebrewers amongst them who would like it.

Check with your locall recycling center and see ifthey will take it.

Put it in a plastic bottle (that's not recycleable) and throw it away. How do you dispose safely of cooking oil?
Well, I pour my old cooking oil into an old car engine oil container and take it to my local re-cycle depot and dispose of it in the old oil bin..hope this helps...
Save the bottle it comes in, then you can pour it back in when you've finished with it and either put it out with your rubbish or recycle it!
Pour it down the drain with plenty of hot water to keep it from blocking up your pipes. Or, put it in a jar and toss it in the rubbish. Either way, it is not toxic, and is biodegradeable.
we take ours to the local council recycling yard, i'm not sure of the toxcicity but i know its something i wouldnt want to get into the drains.
i usually pour mine into an empty milk carton then just put it in with the rest of the rubbish it should be ok
Never wash your cooking oil into the sink.

The oil runs down into the sewage and ends up in the sea, which in turn harms the marine creatures and aquatic plants.

I use a tissue to wipe away the oil. It helps the environment and it isn't much of a hassle to do.
s
pour it into a tub put a lid on it and put it in the bin
filter it and put it in your diesel car..
you can recycle it to use it on your motors..

but i think its unlikely to be on cars..
I pour it on my dog's food. He loves it. I don't worry about him dying of heart dies, since he chases cars ( I live in the country) I would estimate he gets about 30 mpg.
Pour it on your rosebushes.
i let it cool and put it in a used drinks bottle or the bottle in came from then put it in the household rubbish

use a funnel it can get messy
