What is the best way to clean up cooking oil?

I had a ';small'; grease fire and I spilled a lot of grease in the process of putting it out, now I cant find anything to get the grease off my kitchen floor! Thank Goodness I have 2 days before everyone is over here for Thanksgiving Dinner!!!What is the best way to clean up cooking oil?
put salt on the grease to absorb it, the sweep it up, afterwords run a mop over it and you are done. this may use alot of salt but it works. What is the best way to clean up cooking oil?
First of all, what type of floor do you have? and how hot was the greese? Depending on your answers, it is possible, if you have a linolium floor, and the greese was very hot, the stain that you see is actually a burn in the flooring. For that problem, there is no cure to cleaning it. Your only recourse in this situation, is either throw rugs (make sure that they have the gripper backs, so they dont slip when you and other walk on them) or replace the entire flooring.

However, if you are dealing with a hardwood floor, strip that entire area, by using a amonia/water based cleaner. (ratio 1:4) then you will have to rewax that area. Unless you actually burnt the clear coating, that covers the stain on the floor. then you will have to sand the floor, and reapply the clear coatting.. which may take a couple of days to do. But by far, the fastest temp fix.. Buy a few throw rugs...with gripper backing.
Put some ice cubes on the floor were it feels like th grease ,this happened to us alot at kfc. After letting the ice soak up most of the grease take some towels and mop up the mess. It make take several times and use a good cleaner to use after the ice process.
Treat it like any stain that you are trying to get out. Get a degreaser and spray it on the oil then wipe it up... then spray again to make sure you got it all.

I did it the other day when my daughter grabbed the open bottle to pick up and it sckwooshed out the top and fell to the kitchen floor.
A good degreaser should work.Try Fuller products if you can.
Pinesol works wonders. Don't dilute it. Just put it on their straight from the bottle. I'm never without a bottle of Pinesol. :) I'd say good luck but I have NO doubts that this will solve your problem. Have a wonderful day!
