If you drink coffee keep the cans from the coffee and then when you use the oil, put it in there. Or if you drink two litters of soda, put cool oil in them and then throw that away...How do I dispose of used cooking oil?
None of the three answers are really that great. If you flush it down the toilet or put it in the sink it wouldn't be that great for the plumbing. If you tie it in a plastic bag and throw it in the trash.....its likely it will leak out of the bag when they compact the trash down every block or so....and squeeze all that oil out....and it could leak out of the truck and all over the road. (our garbage trucks leave behind messes like this)
Anyway....the best thing to do with used cooking oil is to recycle it. You can easily make it into soap with a simple recipe that you can find online or you can give it to someone who's making biodiesel....as they normally might be found at the back door of restaurants trying to get old nasty oil....which is probaly dirtier than the stuff your getting rid of. Or you could add it to your horse feed....that is if you have a horse. :-)
Other options include burning it and tossing it in the weeds....but you might not have those options either.
Depending on where you live....you might be able to find a collection center for it.
If none of these options work....you could contact a local restaurant and add your oil to their waste cooking oil dumpster....and it will get picked up and hauled away and recycled.
OR if you have alot of oil....you could have the waste hauler pick it up from you. This normally doesn't cost anything...or the pickup fee is a relatively inconsequential amount. You would be looking for a rendering company.
Willie Nelson want it for his bus. Actually you do not want to put it down the toilet or sink. It will quickly cause you a big problem with plugged pipes.
Check your local recycling program. They will either take it or give you the names of some places that will. Many restaurants are selling their used cooking oil and I sure there are companies that will take it for nothing.
DON';T put it in the drain. It will muck up your pipes to great expense! Once it is cool, just pour it into the trash. Use a can or plastic bag to contain it as you stated.
If you have a lot, like from a turkey fryer, maybe you can ask a local restaurant if you can take it there and dump it in their used oil disposal barrel.
The best thing is to let it cool down %26amp; scoop it up with a spoon into a trash bag %26amp; throw it away, or when it is hot pour it into an empty soup can %26amp; throw that away . If you pour it into the sink turn the hot water tap on afterwards %26amp; pour hot water down after it for 5 minutes so it doesnt congeal in the pipes.

I usually wait until it cools and put it in either a double plastic bag or a orange juice carton (I save them for those purposes) and throw it in the trash. DO NOT flush it or put it in your sink, you'll wreck your plumbing.
No - Don't pour it down the toilet or sink - It'll clog either up. Pour the oil in an empty coffee can - or any old can - and throw away. I've poured mine in a sack and thrown that away.
well it all depends on what you have cook with it
if its the First time you have used it and you have only cooked fishing chips with it, then you can let it cool and poor it in to a glass jug with a top on it. put the top back on when its completely cooled and leave it there until you need it again. If you have cook a roast or something that has made the oil go like jelly when it cools then you have to throw it out, just poor it into a tin or any thing what ever you have got when it has cooled .

Putting it into a container and then throwing it into the garbage is the best way to depose of it.
So putting it into a peanut butter jar was a good idea.
