How should i dispose of used cooking oil?

I'm pretty sure i can't pour this stuff down the drain. How should i dispose of used cooking oil?
No, don't put it down the drain. Pour into a can and into the garbage. How should i dispose of used cooking oil?
Pour the oil into an old soup can or an old milk carton, then when it hardens just through it away.
bake your food or smother it.
If you put it down the drain it will block your drains, also it is not good for the enviroment. The correct way to dispose of it it to put it into a container with a lid and take it to your local rubbish yard/tip.
Well, if you have a diesel vehicle, you can run it on cooking oil. Seriously, lots of people do it because it is cheaper. However, the 'watchers' don't like it as it is seen as a form of tax evasion.

But you can do it with no detrimental effects to your vehicle - smells a bit odd though!
I always keep an extra oil container that has been emptied. When the cooking oil has cooled enough, I pour it in the old container and put the lid back on. Keep it under the sink or somewhere out of the way. When it is full, throw it away.

You shouldn't pour it down the drain (especially if it is a significant amount because) because over the years it can cause a buildup. If it clogs your pipes, or the pipes in the streets and they can trace it back to your house, you can be liable for damages and costs.
You are correct, oil is definately not drain material.

Save a couple soup cans, if you must get rid of it right away (hot oil) If you can stand to wait to clean that oil out, use a plastic water bottle. Lid it back up and dump it in the trash. Used milk cartons work too for hot or cold oil. However be careful putting it in the trash. as it's not sealed.
My parents used to put it in an empty coffee can and then it all hardens and you just throw it away when it's full.
depends how much you are talking about,if its just home use amounts then follow advice given by everyone else, but if you are going through a lot then store it in empty oil cans and call an oil recycling company,In the UK at least, all restaurants I have been a chef in have had the oil collected by one of these companies as it can be reused for other purposes. The idea about putting it in your car is a good one but I'd consult a mechanic first ,not every engine can take it without some modification.
I keep an old coffee can, you know the ones with the plastic lid, and after the oil cool, I pour it into the can. After the can is full, I put the lid on, and chuck it out. Works fine, and my drains stay clean.
I do the same thing nanny said to do
Put three plastic grocery bags together, lining each other. Pour it in. Tie it closed. Toss in trash. Carefully.
