My husband says yes, I say no. Does it perhaps depend on the plumbing, or is it a general answer? Is it safe to pour cooking oil down the sink drain?
I dont pour it down the sink drain. If it is hot wait for it to cool and pour it in a ziplock bag or a container that you can throw out and get rid of it that way.
I looked it up online also and every site that I came across said not to pour it down the drain because it can clog up sewer systems and pipes and all the sites suggested that you pour it in a container with a sealable top and dispose of it that way. Some areas even recycle it. You might want to look up and and see if your area does that.Is it safe to pour cooking oil down the sink drain?
No, I don't think it's safe at all. It can clog the sink. My mom just takes a can or an empty soda bottle, and puts the oil in there, than after it cools she disposes it in the trash. Better safe than sorry! And, oil is a cooking fat, which DOES turn into a solidified (Jell-o like base, after it has cooled a bit.)
It's safe. Is it a good idea? No. It can clog up sewer lines and has a real all-around bad effect on the treatment of drinking water.
Just pour it in an old container and put it in the trash.
No, don't. If you're unsure of creating a clog later on, why risk it.
No- our city requires we put it into the trash in a suitable container. it can really harm your pipes!
it could clog the sink make sure it not hot put it in something else
vegetable oil is ok. It's animal fat, like bacon fat/grease that solidifies.
It is not okay to put the cooking oil down the sink when it is hot. It is a better idea for all the little water creatures to put it something and dispose of it properly. Like in the trash/dumpster. Think about the fishes.
Yes, it's just like water running down the drain. It is safe. :)
Cooking oil yes, liquid frying fat no.
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Why would you do that? Put all oil and grease in an empty container, I use empty coffee cans. Then dispose of it properly. If you put this stuff down your sink, eventually you'll be sorry. I wouldn't even consider it!
Cooking oil would be Ok to pour down the sink. You couldn't pour cooking fat down, or any type of oil that turns solid as it cools, because that would block up pipes and cause a terrible mess.
