Cooking oil is not bad for the environment. It CAME from the environment! You obviously wouldn't want to pour motor oil out in the woods-- it's bad for the environment, plus it's illegal.





If you have hot grease/oil that you've been cooking with, pour it into a coffee cup while it's still hot and set it on your counter top for a little while until it cools off and conjeals. Then scrape it out into the trashcan. If you're pouring out plain ole vegetable oil, turn the faucet on really hot water, pour the oil down the drain, and chase it down with a big squirt of liquid dish soap. I've never had a sink clog this way.
Many communities recycle it. I would check with the city and/or your trash collectors to see what their policy is. You can also toss it into your compost heap. Natural cooking oil (vegetable oil, etc) is perfectly safe for the environment.





You just don't want to be pouring it down the drain... it will clog them up eventually, and you don't really want it down in the sewers causing backups down there, either.
i have a deep fryer, and to dispose of my used old oil, i usually put it in a empty laundry bottle or back in a empty oil container, put cap on tight, and put out for garbage, you can place a tag on it , saying used cooking oil, it's biodegradeable.
DO NOT PUT IT DOWN THE SINK...it's not only harmful to the enviro....but it will solidify in your pipes and cause major probs. down the road.....pour it into a glass jar or tin can till it cools....find a restaurant near you and ask them if you can put it in their container...or if you don't want to do that....put a tight seal on your container and throw it in with the waste bin.
Placing the used oil in a sealed container and placing it in the garbage is a good way to dispose of it. And by the way, cooking oil is NOT toxic and is made from vegetables (probably soy or corn) and will NOT harm the environment!
I let it cool then pour it back into an old plastic vegetable oil container (use a funnel if necessary). Put the cap on and throw it out. You don't want to pour it down the sink -- eventually it will cause problems with clogging.
Take an old soup can, and pour the oil in there when done. Then put it in the freezer. Keep on reusing it. When the can is full, throw it away and start again.
Put into a container, let cool and safely dispose of it in your garbage can.
