yesCan you replace cooking oil with shortening in baking? Or is there an allergy-safe cooking oil?
If you are trying to replace a solid shortening with a liquid cooking oil you may have a problem with your recipe. You will have to compensate for the added liquid in some recipes. It may be fine in a cake but for cookies you may have a problem.
What type of allergy. If it is to corn, use canola oil Check the labels of the products that should tell you the type of oil, corn oil, canola, walnut oil, sesame oil.... You can avoid what you are allergic to. If it states vegetable oil watch as there may be a blend. Can you replace cooking oil with shortening in baking? Or is there an allergy-safe cooking oil?
Lynn, shortening and cooking oil are two different things, and should not be interchanged.
Allergy-safe? What allergy? I use canola oil and I have never heard of anyone that was allergic to it.

Yup, you can replace it with APPLESAUCE... makes it much healthier. Just mix in the amount the recipe calls for, for the oil.
